Pregnancy Resource Centers were established to provide help to women experiencing difficult pregnancy decisions. The primary goal was to provide intentional intervention services on-site to create an alternative to abortion.
The crucial need for abortion alternatives came about in 1973 with the passing of Roe v. Wade. Catholics were in the forefront of the movement and organizations such as Catholic Charities were founded.
St. Joseph’s Helpers is a Catholic lay ministry doing business as Arkansas Pregnancy Resource Center. The mission of St. Joseph's Helpers is to save the lives of babies and assist mothers who are facing difficult pregnancy decisions.
We do this by providing pregnancy testing, ultrasounds, medical and consultation services, educational programs, community and medical referrals, and emotional as well as practical support for families in our community. We serve the most vunerable population of Pulaski County with the help of many volunteers.
We currently operate out of two locations: (1) the Arkansas Pregnancy Resource Center located at 2 Office Park Drive and (2) within the community in a medical mobile unit serving women where they live and work.
